Implementation of SiteRouter launched
VDBUM and DKE-Data lay the foundation for a new data standard in the construction industry
On 27 August, the German Association of the Construction Industry, Environmental and Machinery Technology (VDBUM) reached a milestone for interoperable data exchange in the construction sector. With the signing of a cooperation agreement between VDBUM Service GmbH and DKE-Data GmbH & Co. KG, implementation of SiteRouter has begun - a vendor-neutral infrastructure component for standardized data exchange based on ISO 15143-3 and its further development within MIC 4.0.
SiteRouter is not a fresh start, but the logical next step: it builds on established semantics and existing standards and makes them usable for seamless, interoperable data exchange in practice. Initially, the focus is on the reliable and secure exchange of telemetry and operating data in accordance with ISO 15143-3 (AEMP 2.0). This enables data from mixed fleets to be consolidated across manufacturers and made available to ERP, BIM and analytics systems - without requiring a complete system migration and without dependence on a single manufacturer.
For users and manufacturers, this provides the following benefits:
- Interoperability in mixed fleets: One connection, many sources - data can be exchanged independently of the manufacturer. The currently large number of interfaces is reduced to a single interface.
- Scalability: A neutral, shared backbone reduces integration and maintenance effort and establishes clear responsibilities.
- Practical use cases: From automated allocation of machine operating times, CO2 and emissions reporting, documented excavation depths, through to planned-versus-actual comparisons for construction progress - SiteRouter enables reliable, auditable data flows.
- Ecosystem-friendly: OEMs and software providers can securely connect their solutions via a defined interface; existing systems are integrated, not replaced.

KG, adds: “We are contributing our many years of experience in building and operating cross-industry data infrastructures - particularly with agrirouter in agriculture - to rapidly develop SiteRouter into a practical and interoperable data exchange platform for standardized machine data in the construction industry.”
The signing of the agreement received broad support. The entire VDBUM Executive Board and the shareholders of DKE-Data GmbH & Co. KG were present - a clear signal of their shared commitment to establishing data exchange in the construction industry on a stable, future-proof foundation.

SiteRouter is a vendor-neutral, shared infrastructure component for data exchange in the construction industry. It enables standards-based data flows between construction machinery, sensors and software systems to be introduced step by step. The starting point is data exchange in accordance with ISO 15143-3; in future, additional domains (e.g. planning/geometry data and weighing data) will be integrated to support processes across the entire value chain.
